Saturday we lost our last game before the summer break to Carlstad 48-30. Carlstad has a good team and we played honorably until the final whistle. Because of low numbers I think we had 6-7 guys playing full-time offense, defense, and special teams. I was really proud of the effort everybody gave and we never let the game get out of control.
At times our defense played very well against the run and we forced them to punt, also our offense was able to gain some yards on the ground against their defense. We had problems slowing down their passing game and they were able to score more than we could.
We will use the 8 week break to rest and recover from a tough first half of the season. The second half should be fun because we have ourselves in a position to fight for a playoff spot – which is one of our goals this year. As a coaching staff the break will give us time to evaluate things and put together a plan to finish the season.
